Its going to be a busy week of networking and fun in Las Vegas next week. The show kicks off with the Women Of Wireless networking event Monday evening that Rini ONeil is sponsoring. Rebecca and Jon will be speaking Tuesday on two different panels about regulatory issues facing WISPs in a highly dynamic telecommunications marketplace. Communications attorney Jonathan Allen will be a presenter at WISPAmerica, an annual conference and tradeshow presented by WISPA, the Wireless Internet Service Providers Association. The conference will be held from April 1 – April 5, 2013 in Covington, Kentucky.

Jonathan will be speaking about legal and regulatory issues related to the Federal Communications Commission’s broadband subsidy programs such as the Connect America Fund.

Rebecca Rini comments on FCC role in retransmission consent disputes

Rebecca Rini is quoted in Communications Daily today on the role of the FCC in retransmission consent disputes between cable and TV broadcasters. Her comment follows: "The bureau's role "historically" in broadcaster/pay-TV blackouts is akin to a "forcing function to get the parties together to communicate and stay in touch," said broadcast lawyer Rebecca Rini of Rini Coran. "That's the most important part at" such a juncture, she said. There's not much the commission can do during a blackout, "especially in the absence of a complaint" alleging a lack of good-faith contract renewal negotiations, Rini said.
